On the 16th of June 2017 a close friend of my daughter was murdered at Orrell Water Park. She was a student at Winstanley College taking her A levels, Ellen was a lovely young lady with a bright future.
We wanted to help in anyway we could and when Joe Elliott- Sproat (pro BMX rider) suggested we held a fundraiser in Ellen’s memory the idea started to take shape. After contacting Leanne from Beast Rampz in Manchester to ask if we could use her park for the day, she kindly agreed to a fundraiser event on Sunday 13th August.
Our daughter Danielle contacted so many companies to help the fundraiser in anyway they could, we were blown away by the response from so many companies who were willing to help. After a lot of hard work and planning the event took place.
The stalls were set up in the back car park with a tombola, delicious cake sale, badge maker, guess the name of the bear, a raffle (with some amazing prizes) and more…..
Danielle’s friends made cakes, brought raffle prizes, made badges and generally helped all day long with the fundraising activities. Thank you Leo, Jake, Rob, Matthew and Bev for helping all day. Friends from the BMX / scooter / skate community donated items for the raffle, tombola and even sweets for a sweet stall.
Inside the park the Coyote team (Lee Hebb, Jak Tones, Jack Hall, Dylan Hessey, Mike Hullock, Jay Hobson and Paul Friel) ran events and generally made sure everyone was having a good time. Everyone was wearing their Coyote wrist bands with pride. Some fun fundraising activities also took place with find the Minion in the foam pit to win some Vans goodies was a crowd pleaser. It was very warm so a couple of the team decided to do some activities in the back car park, what an amazing atmosphere we had all day long and everyone wanted to support the event, riders had come from all over the country to show their support.
Auctions were held with the highlight being a years pass kindly donated by Rampworx, Philip Miller was the highest bidder on this auction, thank you. Everyone came together in the park while we said thank you to everyone for being there and making it such an amazing day and then Team Coyote did a demo whilst Danielle, Megan, Matthew, Sophia and Annabelle danced in the Skate park. The day was our way of trying to turn a devastating event into something positive and raise money for Ellen’s family.
We had so many raffle prizes and everyone was so pleased with their prizes so thank you to everyone who donated prizes or bought tickets.
The day was amazing success but we couldn’t have done it without the help of all the companies, individuals, friends, family it was a group effort.
After the event we still had some fantastic prizes so we auctioned them via our website. Eventually all the auctions had been paid for the money had been counted and the final amount raised for Ellen’s family was £2063.00.
We would like to thank everyone involved and hope it helps the family in some way.
